In October 2007 I was the truck commander in the vehicle that is displayed below when a large improvised explosive device detonated under my seat. I was rendered unconscious for several minutes only to wake up to a brand new life. I had to be evacuated to Walter Reed due to a severe traumatic brain injury. When I left Iraq that was my third and final deployment to that country.
After a stay of six months at Walter Reed I was sent home to rehabilitate. At that point I had been a Christian for eleven years and a minister for two. There wasn’t much known about the effects of TBI caused by explosions in combat at the time. All I heard at the time was negative and others having a difficult time. I knew that if healing was going to come it would be through Christ.
After
being home for just two and a half years the Army doctors declared me fit for
duty to re-enter Active Duty Army. I was sent to Fort Lewis, WA in which I was
actually able to deploy another time to Afghanistan. All of my chain of command
agreed that I was a great candidate to receive Master Resilience Training and
Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Training in order to teach it to
others.
Now
that I have satisfied my contract with the Army God has laid a new mission on
my heart which is to share this message of hope and recovery. Proverbs 13:12
says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” There are many people, including
Christians, who have a deferred hope due to illness, injury, or life
circumstances. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to share a message
of hope and recovering with you and your church.
Brother Dale,
ReplyDeleteIt is incredible! It is incredible to see a life again out of the wreckage of that picture of vehicle in which you were. Yet, it is credible that our God makes miracles for us with a purpose.
Indeed, I realize you were saved with a reason that you could be a blessing to us even here in Africa.
I have really seen tears of victory!!
May you consider extending your coverage area of your emerging Ministry of Evangelism to Africa also!
The Divine Mission International, our Local Ministry with a membership of over 32 Churches here would be considered blessed to have your healing testimony shared.
God bless you as you fully enter into His full-time Harvest Ministry.
